The WSJ has been tracking which tech companies are moving to cities versus the suburbs, and reports on a pattern that’s emerging:
“Even as they expand their urban presence in pursuit of younger employees, tech giants are doubling down on their Silicon Valley campuses with an eye to both space and the lifestyle of maturing workforces.”
- Facebook has reaffirmed its commitment to Menlo Park with its purchase of a 10 building, 59 acres campus. It already has over 430,000 square feet under construction in Menlo Park.
- Ericcson is leasing 410,000 square feet in Santa Clara
- Samsung is building 680,000 in San Jose
- Apple is working on its 2.8 million square foot campus in Cupertino
The region is adding new office space at a higher rate than any other region in the country, the WSJ reports.
