Move Loot collects furniture, photographs it, posts it online for sale and stores it until it sells or is donated to charity. It recently raised $2.8 million, has 24 employees and is growing.
If you have something to sell and Move Loot thinks they can sell it, they’ll pick it up from you at a time of your choosing, refurbish it as needed, photograph it, list it and store it in their warehouse. If someone buys it, they’ll deliver it and you get half the sale price; if it sits for 60 days without a buyer, you can choose whether to get it back or have them donate it to charity. Worst case scenario, you got a piece of furniture out of your house and a tax write-off without having to lift anything heavier than an iPhone.

Move Loot’s 10,000 square foot warehouse is located in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. Nearby is Threadflip, an online used women’s clothing and accessories venture. Threadflip is a similar story, it manages the selling process for customers. Threadfip sends out 1,000 bags pre day to clients, who fill the bags with 20 items and send them back to the company. Threadflip cleans, photographs the goods, and posts the information online.
