Green Gables

Green Gables is actually a collection of neighborhoods that are now commonly referred to as Duveneck, as Duveneck Elementary School (once Green Gables Elementary) serves as a common hub for them all. The neighborhood is a mix of pre-war ranchers and post-war Eichlers, with Edgewood Plaza, on the edge of the neighborhood being one of Joseph Eichler's few commercial developments. The neighborhood has and is going through a transformation as smaller homes have been replaced by larger ones and the Edgewood Plaza is currently being completely redone to house a a gourmet grocery store and other new businesses. Duveneck is a place where people put down roots and stay awhile and also a neighborhood where young families can find a starter home and later move up on the same block.
