The Town of Los Altos Hills is adjacent to the City of Los Altos, thirty-five miles south of San Francisco and five miles south of Stanford University. It is one of the wealthiest towns in the San Francisco Bay area and in the country. In 2013, Forbes ranked Los Altos Hills as the second most expensive zip code in America with a median home price of $5.4m.

Los Altos Hills was incorporated in 1956 and makes great efforts to preserve it's rural feel and open space. Most of the properties are a minimum of one acre and much of what is considered as "open space" is, in fact, privately owned and maintained. In addition, open-space land has been donated to the Town by private citizens and acquired over the years to further enhance the Town's rural atmosphere. There are several Open Space preserves and parks within and adjacent to Los Altos Hills, including the Byrne Preserve, the Juan Prado Mesa Preserve and Rancho San Antonio County Park, a 167-acre park adjacent to LAH. The park features pedestrian and equestrian trails, a model glyder flying venue and Deer Hollow Farm, a working farm that is open to visitors. The Westwind Community Barn is located next to the Bynre Preserve and is a facility for boarding horses and horseback riding programs, including the 4-H Riding for the Handicapped Program. With the holidays come the Barn Lighting celebration and Caroling in the Hills. The city also has four Little League playing fields located on Purissima Road.

The Town of Los Altos Hills is divided by Highway 280. If your dream is to live on a large lot in a rural atmosphere but close to a downtown area, the section of Los Altos Hills closest to Foothill Expressway, is a wonderful combination of both. If you prefer spectacular views, west of High 280 will provide new scenery at every turn in the road.
